Same old story of monsoon, same old green, same old place, same old people, same old air, same old rain-water, same old earth. The newness is also old, but still its cool. Same old green is always fresher then same old grey. Some time its difficult to maintain the same old. But its better that year by year this green is becoming more hard hitting. This place is same old as i have seen in my childhood. Frozen and happy.
From work I finally steal some time off to Bandhavgarh.
It was very cold, around 4 degrees. We reached there in the afternoon and got ready for the our first tiger safari. I had heard from a lot of people that one needs to be lucky enough to spot tigers. We got ourselves into a gypsy with a driver and our guide, Parshuram. Off we went into the jungle.
For the first our or so we could only spot a lonely Stork up on the branch of a tree and many Chitals around. After a couple of rounds, suddenly, we spotted pug marks. As we kept driving ahead, around the next turn, we saw three tigers sleeping near a water hole. They were eight months old, 2 males and a female. they were pretty large to believe they were only 8 months old. Their mom wasn’t around. Possibly went out to arrange some dinner for tonight.
We were there all amazed and clicking snaps for almost an hour. The tigers were not more then ?? meters away.
Other gypsys soon made their way to the water hole and we all were taking pictures. It was like a photo shoot. People flashing cameras and the tigers were posing like super models. Amazing!
Now we got a message saying that a big male tiger was spotted somewhere. We bid the 8 month olds bye and like paparazzi, all rushed for the big male. But we had exhausted all our luck! We didnt see the male tiger. Finally we came back at dusk with millions of tiger photographs.
Next day, we spotted an Owl with its baby, a family of male, female and a baby Sambhar, 2 foxes, lots of chitals but no tigers.
We were massively lucky i believe on the 1st day!
