My shop is online and first art deco lot is ready :)

The architecture of  Mumbai blends GothicVictorianArt Deco, Indo-Saracenic and contemporary architectural styles. Many buildings, structures and historical monuments remain from the colonial era. Mumbai, after Miami, has the second largest number of Art Deco buildings in the world. So being in Mumbai these Art Deco marvels always inspires us.

Eros Movie Hall, Near Oval Maidan, Mumbai. designed by architect Sohrabji Bhedwar.

Art Deco in India (and especially in Mumbai) evolved into a unique style that came to be called Deco-Saracenic. Essentially, it was a combination of the Islamic and the Hindu architectural styles. The main features of the Indo Saracenic Style were the construction of domes, arches, spires, stained glasses and minarets.

Details of Mural. New India Assurance Building, Mumbai

We tried to capture it’s modern Art Deco style and classiness in our prints.

Inspired by mural of New India Assurance Building (Mumbai/Bombay), India. The illustration’s art deco architectural style combines modern art deco features with a modified classicism. It has architectural drawing look because of original mural and line art style.

If you have visited Mumbai, India then it is a really good souvenir. These prints are available for sale in two sizes A3 and A2 on 200G paper on etsy. If you would like to order customised or canvas enlargements pls mail us on moochchaap@gmail.com and visit our store at www.moochchaap.com

Invictus (Posterama.co)

In recent times Invictus has been in the news, after the film of the same name, about Nelson Mandela. This poem is what sustained him through twenty seven years in jail. Penned by Victorian poet William Ernest Henley, who at the age of 12, contracted tuberculosis of the bone. A few years later, the disease progressed to his foot, and physicians announced that the only way to save his life was to amputate directly below the knee. It was his subsequent stoicism that inspired him to write this poem. And prevail. (partly from wikipedia)

My ‘Invictus’ poster is inspired by two seemingly similar, yet distinct design styles – Ottoman Calligraphy and Calligram. While the text is laid out in Ottoman styled calligraphy, the layout is designed as per Calligram aesthetics. The merging of these two styles help recreate and relive the artistic legacy of the now defunct, Ottoman Empire.

Think Different, Reads Different.

‘Think Different’ written by Craig Tanimoto and now designed by Jayesh Raut. Available for sale in poster format on www.posterama.co

‘Think different’ reads different. The ‘think different’ philosophy finds new form in this poster. While the content remains unchanged, it is spelt out in Devnagri – the Indian ‘Hindi’ script. But it reads and sounds as if it were in English.
